Halloween is coming. For every American kid, I think, this is the most exciting time for them. They grew up in such environment. Maybe 5 years ago, I knew nothing about America since I went to Japan after graduation and stayed until last year. Most of the movies I watched were Japanese shows. I was watching the TV “Two and a half men”. The first time when I saw it, I loved it, because Charlie’s words are always so funny and full of humor and perfect irony. On the other hand, because it is so idiomatic, sometime it is difficult for me to get the exact meaning from the surface of the words.
Last night it was the second time for me to watch the scene of “take care of your mother”, which was the scene when Charlie went to do surfing but got drowned and saw his father, and his father told him to “take care of your mother”.
The story continued in a very irony way as it always did. In the end he got to know the really meaning of his father’s meaning was not to assume responsibility for his mother, it was the exact opposite meaning.
